Bio/CV

Born in northern Greece (b. 1990), Ilias started experimenting with the photographic medium at the age of 19. After extensive travels in 2011, he ceased his university studies in mathematics and began making pictures obsessively.

His main interest focuses on what he terms "poetic image-making" within the current context of social and interpersonal issues regarding the human condition. He has followed this approach since 2012.

Ilias' work has been shown in numerous solo and group shows worldwide, including festivals in Europe, Asia, and Australia. It has been featured in catalogs, in-depth articles, interviews, and various online and printed publications.
His prints are held in private and public collections, and his photobooks "Over.State", "Vialattea", and "Forecast" are part of public and museum libraries (J. Paul Getty Museum, Columbia University of New York, et al.). He has won prestigious awards for his works and photobooks, which have been included in numerous "best-of" lists.

He conducts and curates the "Fortnight" mentoring cycle as well as the "Origini Masterclass" and other photography masterclasses.
As a writer, he has published two poetry books in Greek and frequently writes essays on photography, literature, and poetry.
"Forecast" (First and Second edition) is his latest photobook.
Since May 2023, he is the Artistic Director of Origini Edizioni.
